Covington County headed to state

The members of the 11- and 12-year-old Covington County Little League All-Stars are living a dream.

A dream they hope ends with a

trip to the Little League World Series.

The Covington County All-Stars won the Alabama District 5 Championship last week and are now preparing to play in the Alabama State Tournament in Sheffield.

The team begins play on Saturday when they take the diamond in Sheffield against the District 3 representative, Jackson All-Stars at 7:30 p.m.

The winner of the Covington County-Jackson game will play the Russellville All-Stars at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The loser of the Covington County-Jackson game will fall into the loser's bracket and play at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

The members of the team are Zane Maloy, Clay Stacks, Cale Nolen, Shane Turner, Andrew Rabren, Cole Armstrong, Aaron Haag, Matthew Bond and Ethan King. The team is coached by Manager Andy Nolen, Coach Greg Nolen and Coach David Turner.

The teams in the state tournament are Covington County, Coosa, Huntsville, Cottage Hill, Jackson and Russellville.
