Junior golfers had a blast at Evans Barnes Golf Course on the campus of LBW Community College this summer.

Golfers played rounds throughout the summer perfecting their skills and ended the summer vacation with the first-ever Andalusia Junior Golf League Tournament.

Blake Ramirez won the tournament edging out Bryan Bass. Brentley Windham finished in third.

Bass finished second in the tournament, but ended the league season as the overall champion.

The league began in June with the tournament wrapping up league play on July 25. The members of the junior league played nine holes of golf every Wednesday.

The summer league began with 10 golfers. All of them showed improvement during the league season. The golfers learned valuable golf lessons and skills as well as proper golf etiquette and rules.

The tournament at the end of the junior league summer season was followed by a pizza party.

The league was a big success and Evans Barnes Golf Course Manager Scott Crum is excited about next summer.

"We are hoping to double the membership next year," Crum said.
