Three football games Friday

Straughn and Pleasant Home kick off the 2003 high school football season at 7 p.m. tonight.

The Tigers and Eagles will square off at the Pleasant Home School Stadium. gates open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $5 at the gate.

The season gets into full swing on Friday when four teams from Covington County take the field.

The Andalusia Bulldogs travel to Troy for the first game of the season. The Bulldogs will be going up against a strong Class 5A Charles Henderson High School team. The game will be played at newly-renovated Movie Gallery Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Andalusia Head Coach Tom Causey said the Bulldogs have to play an entire game and stay focused.

he said the Bulldogs cannot give up big plays like they did last week in a preseason loss to the W.S. Neal Blue Eagles.

The Red Level Tigers begin the 2003 season at home with a game against the Florala Wildcats. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

Both teams played in preseason games last week. Florala won a preseason game against J.U. Blacksher by a final tally of 35-20.

Red Level came up just short of victory against Luverne last week in a preseason game played on the road.

The Opp Bobcats begin the season at home against Luverne on Friday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

Opp enters the game without having played a preseason game.

Luverne and first-year Head Coach Mike DuBose earned a win against Red Level in preseason action last Friday night.

The game will be a homecoming of sorts for DuBose who grew up in Opp and played high school football as a member of the Bobcats.
