Volleyball season begins Thursday

Serve, set and spike. The 2003 Alabama High School Athletic Association has set Thursday, Aug. 28 as the first day of the 2003 high school volleyball season.

All three high school volleyball programs in Covington County are ready to go. The teams are not wasting time getting the season started.

All three squads play on the official opening day of the season.

Andalusia begins the 2003 season on the road with a 4:30 p.m. match at Daleville. The Lady Bulldogs follow the season opener with a road game at Laurel Hill on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 4 p.m.

The home opener for the Lady Bulldogs is set for Thursday, Sept. 4 when Elba visits Andalusia High School for a 4 p.m. match.

Opp begins its season on Thursday with a home match against Enterprise at 4:30 p.m. followed by two road contests.

The Lady Bobcats will be at New Brockton on Tuesday, Sept. 2 for a 4 p.m. match. Opp travels to Kinston on Thursday, Sept. 4 for a 4 p.m. match.

The Red Level Lady Tigers are slated to begin the 2003 season at home.

The Lady Tigers will host the New Brockton Lady Gamecocks at 4 p.m. on Thursday.

Red Level's next match is not until Monday, Sept. 8 when the Opp Lady Bobcats visit for a 4 p.m. game.

AMS BEGINS SEASON NEXT WEEK

The Andalusia Middle School volleyball team begins the 2003 season on Thursday, Sept. 4.

The AMS Lady Bulldogs begin the season against Elba in a home match at 4 p.m.

The AMS squad will also host a match on Monday, Sept. 8 when Kinston comes to town.

The first road game of the 2003 season for the Andalusia Middle School Lady Bulldogs is set for Sept. 11 at Geneva. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
