A Florida man was cut by a man carrying a knife outside of a local night club - the Idle Hour - early Saturday morning, Andalusia Police Chief Wilbur Williams said.

Officer Steve Turner received a call around 2:30 a.m. from the victim on his way to the hospital, who received a cut on his face.

He received treatment at the Andalusia Regional Hospital, where he was released later that morning, Detective Sergeant Wade Garrett said.

Garrett added the case is currently under investigation and no arrests have been made.

He said there will be charges brought against the suspect after the arrest, however.

"The victim received stitches, but he wasn't severely injured," Garrett said.

"They called me out there, but I know the officers were originally called out to the hospital."

The assault occurred in the parking lot of Idle Hour, located on Antioch Road.

The slashing happened within a matter of seconds, and friends of the victim made the call shortly afterwards, Garret said.

"We do not have anyone in custody right now, because we are still investigating," Garrett said.

The dispute originally occurred inside the bar, according to Williams. The two men walked outside of the bar, and fought until the offender cut the victim and fled from the scene. The victim, a construction worker employed in Opp, was a known acquaintance of the offender, officials said.

Officials also reported the crime will be classified as a felony when charges are brought against the offender.

When contacted, The Idle Hour had no comment.
