Pretenders win league title

The Pretenders are more than contenders - they are the Thursday Night Summer Mixed League Champions.

The Pretenders won 80 points during the summer season to clinch first place. The Here Goes Nothing team finished in second with 74 points followed by the Strikers with 68 points.

The top scores for the final week of the season were posted by five bowlers. Robbie Cook Jr. had two top scores among the men with a 670 scratch series and a 745 handicap series. Toby Freeman had the best scratch game score among the men with a 243. Cody Stinson had the top handicap game score with a 264.

Freeman and Cook shared top honors for the season. Cook had the best scratch series with a 670 and the best handicap series with a 745. Freeman had a 277 handicap game for top honors and a 300 handicap game score.

The top women bowlers were Ruth Cook and Joyce Stinson. Cook had three top scores for the week with a 198 scratch game, 547 scratch series and 634 handicap series. Stinson had the best handicap game score with a 245.

Cook had all four top scores for the season with a 238 scratch game, 604 scratch series, 270 handicap game and 700 handicap series.

The fall league begins Sept. 4 at 6 p.m.

SUNDAY NIGHT

MIXED LEAGUE

The Cross Roads team and the Off-Center team are tied for first place after three weeks of the 32-week season with 16 points each.

Last week's top scores were posted by Buddy Jay, Rik Long and Charles Near among the men. Jay had two top scores with a 248 scratch game and a 278 handicap game. Long had the best scratch series with a 583. Near had the best handicap series with a 683.

Joyce Stinson was the top bowler among the women with a 168 scratch game, 449 scratch series, 235 handicap game and 650 handicap series.

MONDAY NIGHT

BUSINESS LEAGUE

The Outlaws are tied with the Covington Casket Company team for first place after two weeks of the 36-week season.

Rik Long had the top scores among the men last week with a 235 scratch game and 620 scratch series.

Vicki and Vickie had the top scores among the women. Vicki Gaston had the best scratch game with a 190. Vickie Hejnal had the top scratch series with a 512.

THURSDAY MORNING

COFFEE LEAGUE

The Monroe Ladies are out in front with 21 points after three weeks of the 34-week season. The Positive Bowlers are in a close second with 19 points. The Loango Convenience team is in third with 16 points.

The top scores from last week included a 209 scratch game by Butch Lints. He also had the best scratch series among the men with a 516.

Sherry Ard had the top scores among the women with a 195 scratch game and a 548 scratch series.
