AMS Lady Bulldogs top Panthers

The Andalusia Middle School volleyball team defeated the visiting Geneva Lady Panthers in straight games Tuesday afternoon by a final score of 25-22, 25-23.

Morgen Battey served out the first game with an ace and two serves the Lady Panthers were able to hit, but could not return.

In the second game, the Lady Bulldogs build a 5-2 lead only to watch the Lady Panthers rally to claim a 6-5 edge.

The game remained close the rest of the way with neither team able to get more than a two-point lead until Andalusia took a 23-20 advantage.

The Lady Bulldogs went up by three late on a hard and fast serve by Blanche Alverson.

The Lady Panthers, however, rallied once again and knotted the score at 23-23.

Anna Henderson closed out the match for the Lady Bulldogs with one serve after Andalusia went on top 24-23 when the Lady Panthers hit the ball into the net.

Henderson's serve was hit by one Geneva player, but mishit by the second player causing it to fall to the court for a point.

The AMS Lady Bulldogs return to the court on Monday, Oct. 6 at Kinston. The match begins at 4 p.m. and is the final match of the season for the team.
