The Brantley Bulldogs pounced on the Pleasant Home Eagles early en route to a 46-2 victory in high school football action Friday.

The Bulldogs visited Pleasant Home Stadium and took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.

Jamyal Jones capped the scoring drive with a seven-yard run into the end zone for the touchdown.

Devaris Skanes had a big 50-yard run during the drive to set up the score. Cedric Jones added a PAT and the Bulldogs were on top 7-0 with 8:39 remaining in the opening period.

Pleasant Home managed to stop Brantley on a third-and-goal play from the four-yard line later in the quarter. The Bulldogs sent Jones out to attempt a 25-yard field goal. Jones missed as the Bulldogs failed to add to their 7-0 lead.

The Bulldogs, however, did not wait too long before adding to the lead.

Senior quarterback Channing Spivey found Marcel Stamps for a 19-yard touchdown pass. Jones converted the PAT and the Bulldogs were on top 14-0.

The score remained 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Eagles scored via a safety.

Nathaniel Blount tackled Spivey in the end zone, after a bobbled snap, for the Eagles' only two points of the game.

The Bulldogs held a 14-2 lead with 6:52 left to play in the first half.

Stamps scored his second touchdown of the game before the halftime intermission.

He blocked a Pleasant Home punt, scooped up the ball and raced about 30 yards for a score. Jones converted the PAT to give the Bulldogs a 21-2 lead.

Spivey and Stamps hooked up one more time before the half ended with another touchdown-producing pass play.

Spivey hit Stamps for a 13-yard touchdown play with 38 seconds left in the first half. Jones once again converted the PAT and the Bulldogs held a 28-2 lead at the half.

The Bulldogs scored 18 unanswered points in the second half for a 46-2 victory to remain undefeated on the season.

Brantley went into Friday's game as the No. 5-ranked team in Class 1A.

The Eagles are now 1-2 on the season and 1-1 in region play.

The Eagles will be at home again next Friday night when the Cottonwood Bears come to town.

The Bears held off a late charge by the Florala Wildcats to get a 28-20 win Friday.

The Pleasant Home-Cottonwood game will be another important region game for both teams. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
