After more than a year, young Meredith McGlamory has lost her battle with cancer.

The 5-year-old daughter of Rusell and Jana McGlamory, had been diagnosed with Wilm's Tumor, a form of cancer that typically attacks children a year and eight months ago.

As part of her battle, Meredith underwent several procedures, including the removal of one kidney and part of another one.

After a clear diagnosis in August 2002, cancer was detected in Meredith again in November 2002, this time in her lungs. Upon that diagnosis, Meredith received more surgery, radiation and chemotherapy treatments at the Children's Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham.

During her fight with cancer, Meredith was a brave little girl, always smiling and happy. She served as an inspiration to all who met her, according to several friends and supporters.

Meredith succombed to the cancer Sunday morning at her residence.

A funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church in Heath, with visitation at Foreman Funeral Home after 6 p.m. tonight.

The family will accept flowers, or donations can be made to the Make a Wish Foundation in her memory.
