Pearla M. Petty

Pearla M. Petty, 81, of Brantley, died Sunday, September 14, 2003 in a Montgomery hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with with Rev. Earl Currenton officiating and

burial following in Goodhope Cemetery.

Survivors include her step son, William Harold (Mu Hwa) Petty of Deatsville; three step-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tony Turner, Timmy Turner, Kin Turner, Ronnie Grissett, Donnie Grissett and Robbie Odom.

Benjamin Franklin &uot;Frank&uot; Merrill

Benjamin Franklin &uot;Frank&uot; Merrill, 67, of Dothan, died Monday, September 15, 2003 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 18, 2003 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel in Dothan. Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. Thursday at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery in Dozier with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Mr. Merrill was born September 4, 1936, in Covington County and lived the early years of his life there. In 1965, he moved to Dothan where he resided the remainder of his life. Mr. Merrill and his brother, Joe, owned and opperated Falstaff Distributing Company in Dothan for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Dothan Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Reba Merrill of Dothan; a brother, Joe Merrill of Dothan; two sisters, Jeanette Grant of Rose Hill and Anne Ray of Prattville; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Edith Pyle Floyd

Edith Pyle Floyd, 91, of Andalusia died August 20, 2003 at Margaret T. Morris Center, Prescott, Az.

Mrs. Floyd, widow of Andrew (Andy) S. Floyd, was born in Rome, Ga., August 5, 1912, daughter of Joel and Fannie Hamrick Pyle.

The Floyds moved to Andaluisa in 1950 and established Floyd Pine Products Company in 1952. Mrs. Floyd worked as a partner in the business until retirement.

Survivors include one son, Thomas W. Floyd of Prescott, Az.; two grandchildren, Bonnie F. Sinclair of Ladera Ranch, Calif. and Jennifer F. Johnson of Huntington Beach, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Andrew Robert Sinclair and Lleyton John Sinclair of Ladera Ranch, Calif.

Graveside services will be conducted by Rev. Frank Beall of the First Presbyterian Church of Andalusia at Andalusia Memorial Cemtery at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2003.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Andalusia or to individual favorite charities.
