Quarterback accounts for six touchdowns

Drew League of Haleyville High School accounted for 361 yards total offense and six touchdowns to take the football prep spotlight of the Alabama High School Athletic Association.

A statewide survey of outstanding performances is made each week.

League completed 9 of 19 passes for 243 yards and three touchdowns (23, 4 and 24 yards) and also rushed for 118 yards and three TDs (5, 26 and 37 yards) in Haleyville's 41-7 victory over Lawrence County.

Other spotlight performances:

€ Larry Hudson of Red Level ran for two touchdowns-one a 70-yarder, kicked three extra points, scored on a two-point conversion and recorded 11 tackles on defense in s 28-0 win over Samson.

€ Corey Kelly of Oxford ran 35 times for 327 yards and a touchdown in a 31-21 win over Benjamin Russell.

€ Kenny Padgett rushed for 177 yards and two touchdowns, threw a 57-yard scoring pass, and recorded two interceptions on defense in Tarrant's 34-7 triumph over Aliceville.

€ Chris Bolden of Coffeeville recorded 22 tackles and ran for two touchdowns in a 22-0 win over J. F. Shields.

€ John Parker Wilson of Hoover completed 27 of 35 passes for 299 yards and three touchdowns and ran for a 21-yard score in a 35-10 victory over Spain Park.

€ Chad Mickens ran 38 times for 288 yards and a touchdown (88 yards) in St. Clair County's 28-21 overtime loss to Springville.

€ Stan Galbraith of Homewood recorded 18 tackles in a 28-6 win over Jess Lanier.

€ Freshman Terrence Wilkes rushed for 184 yards and five touchdowns and his older brother Paul also scored a TD in Wadley's 45-12 triumph over Notasulga.

€ Chris Nickson of Pike County completed 8 of 10 passes for 210 yards and four touchdowns in a 35-0 victory over Elba.

€ Alphonso Gross ran for 201 yards and five touchdowns in W.S. Neal's 48-14 win over Central-Hayneville.

€ Desmond Fields of West End-Birmingham completed 223 of 45 passes for 322 yards and three touchdowns (41, 87 and 26 yards) in a 42-20 setback to Briarwood Christian.

€ Cam Robinson rushed for 226 yards and five touchdowns in North Jackson's 52-8 triumph over Douglas.

€ Tim King of Theodore threw for 249 yards and four touchdowns in a 28-19 victory over Baker.

€ Aaron Johns rushed 11 times for 183 yards and five touchdowns (46, 2, 2, 80 and 4 yards) in Thomasville's 55-6 victory over Choctaw County.

€ Ezekiel Knight of Randolph County returned two punts for touchdowns (62 and 73 yards) and caught a 23-yard scoring pass in a 39-0 win over White Plains.

€ Kelvin Brown caught eight passes for 226 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Excel's 28-14 loss to Flomaton.

€ Brandon Gunn of Sheffield recovered four fumbles, including two he caused with timely tackles, in a 30-18 victory over Lauderdale County.

€ Jeremy West racked up 250 all-purpose yards and scored two touchdowns while Alex Gallahar contributed 230 all-purpose yards and a TD in Ohatchee's 40-37 loss to Westbrook Christian.

€ Willie Suddith of Charles Henderson made a touchdown-saving tackle on a kickoff return, forced a fumble that set up his team's only TD, and blocked a field goal in a 10-0 triumph over Greenville.

€ Trent Knight, playing in relief of the the injured starter, completed 22 of 31 passes for 276 yards and a touchdown and also ran for another score in Oak Mountain's 21-14 loss to Pelham.

€ Nick Clifton of Marion County ran for a touchdown and threw three TD passes in a 33-14 triumph over Berry.

€ Jason Bruce totaled 310 all-purpose yards and scored three times in St. Jude's 20-16 win over Fayetteville.

€ Josh Barnhill of Oak Grove ran for 173 yards and four touchdowns in a 34-7 victory over West Blocton.

€ Nick Bryant rushed for 199 yards and three touchdowns, returned two punts for 34 yards and caught a 15-yard pass in Fyffe's 39-3 triumph over Geraldine.

€ Justin Potts of Holtville ran for four touchdowns (53, 36, 14 and 6 yards) in a 47-14 win over Munford.

€ Justin Palmer of Hamilton completed 13 of 24 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-7 triumph over East Lawrence.

€ Jeremy Robinson posted 277 yards total offense with two rushing touchdowns and one scoring pass in Highland Home's 46-14 win over Marbury.

€ Steven Brown of Vestavia Hills completed 13 of 18 passes for 207 yards and three touchdowns (29, 49 and 57 yards) in a 40-7 victory over John Carroll.

€ Desmond Walton rushed for two touchdowns and caught two scoring passes in Billingsley's 36-0 triumph over Goshen.

€ Jamarquis Caldwell of Lincoln rushed for 250 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a 33-14 victory over Ashville.

€ Kenneth Pullom completed 18 of 36 passes for 245 yards and two touchdowns in Woodlawn's 37-20 loss to Mountain Brook.

€ Timothy Hicks of Washington County rushed 11 times for 210 yards and three touchdowns in a 38-0 win over McIntosh.

€ Chris Baker of Fairfield hit 15 of 24 passes for 220 yards and three touchdowns in a 40-14 victory over Erwin.
