Straughn claws Andy

Straughn defeated Andalusia in junior varsity football action last night by a final score of 30-8.

The Tigers went on top 8-0 in the first quarter when Justin Freeney scored on a 17-yard run. He added a two-point conversion with another run into the end zone.

The score remained 8-0 at the halftime intermission.

Straughn's offense got back on track in the second half going on top 16-0 with 6:53 left to play in the third quarter. Justin Freeney once again provided a rushing touchdown. His second score was on a 39-yard run. Tommy Stoudemire added a two-point conversion for a 16-0 Straughn lead.

Straughn added 14 points in the fourth quarter for a 30-8 win.

Josh Pettus scored with 6:19 left in the game on a four-yard run. The two-point attempt failed, but the Tigers had a 22-0 lead.

Pettus scored again with 3:02 left in the game. He scored his second touchdown on a 75-yard run. Stoudemire added a two-point conversion for a 30-0 lead.

Andalusia's D'Andre Lee scored the only touchdown for the Bulldogs with 2:24 remaining in the contest. Jerome Tomberlin added a two-point conversion on a running play.

The JV Bulldogs have two games remaining on the schedule with away games at Carroll on Monday, Oct. 6 and at Enterprise on Monday, Oct. 13. Both kickoff at 6 p.m.
