We#039;re all simply moving on today

There were several events to commemorate the events that happened on Sept. 11, 2001 yesterday. From religious services to First Responder recognition to children celebrating freedom, there were the events just begging for people to attend.

However, most of the events were attended by very few people.

Why?

That's a question we've asked and we think we've come up with an answer. The reason so few people actually attended these events is because people are simply trying to move on.

And you can't fault them for that.

There comes a point when everyone must move on Š and that's just what happened following the attack on Pearl Harbor, the bombing of Pan-Am Flight #103 over Scotland, the dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Yes, those scares remain. The stay forever, but people are able to move on with their daily lives.

The human psyche as unique way of moving on. We don't forget, but we don't dwell. Call it a gift from God, human nature or whatever. The fact is, we do move on.

Sure, the victims' families face everyday challenges, knowing the entire world saw what happened to their loved ones. Many of them - having no final contact or good-bye. And they live with that everyday. But they go on.

They say time heals everything, but the scars remain.

We're not sure if time can completely heal the pain we all felt on that fateful day, and we all will carry the scars with us - but we can rest assured that we are moving on, with a stronger resolve than ever before.

We were down, but not out on that day. It was a "might sucker punch," but it didn't knock us out. We staggered, but we carried on.

Now, two years later, we continue to carry on - working everyday to put the pain behind and resume our normal lives.

So when you ask yourself where all the people were during these memorial services, just remember - they were trying to do what all of try to do everyday - go on with our daily lives, living with the memory, but not letting it overtake us.

And that is what makes it certain that the battle will be won.
