The Florala Wildcats improved to 1-3 on the season with an overtime victory against Kinston last week. The competition gets tougher this week as the Wildcats host the Class 2A New Brockton Gamecocks with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.
The Gamecocks are 2-2 on the season coming into the game and boast a big offensive line anchored by a player being looked at by major colleges.
Florala Head Coach Doug Vickery said he expects a very hard-fought game on Friday with a ton of hard hits, especially in the trenches.
"They're pretty good," Vickery said. "They are big and physical."
Vickery said the Wildcats feel good about last week's win, but now have to focus on this week and the rest of the season.
"I think they were obviously happy about winning the ball game," he said. "We felt like the week before we should have won.
"We got over the hump with this win and now we are looking forward to the rest of the year," Vickery added. "We have six more games."
The key for Friday night's contest against the Gamecocks will be executing the game plan.
"We can't turn the football over or give up anything cheap," Vickery said. "We have to win the special teams battle and the kicking game.
"We have to do the little things," he added. "We have to control the ball on offense. We are going to try and keep their offense off the field and shorten the game."
