JV Opp Bobcats top Pleasant Home

The 2003 junior varsity football season came to an end with a win for the Opp Bobcats on Monday.
The JV Bobcats topped the Pleasant Home Eagles by a final score of 20-0 in the final game of the season.
The Opp 9th-grade football team finished the season with a 4-2 record. The 7th- and 8th-grade squad completed the season with a 1-2 record.
The Bobcats pounced on the Eagles taking a 20-0 lead in the game before allowing Pleasant Home to score a second half touchdown to make the final score 20-8.
Clint Short scored the first touchdown of the game for Opp on a pass play. Quarterback Rhett Barnes hit Short for a play that covered about 40 yards and resulted in a touchdown. Donald Jones added a two-point conversion on a running play for an 8-0 lead.
Chris Salter added to Opp's lead on a 30-yard touchdown run. The two-point attempt was no good, but the Bobcats had a 14-0 lead.
The Bobcats' advantage increased to 20-0 when Rodney Colston scored a touchdown on about a 25-yard run. The two-point attempt once again failed, but the Bobcats had a healthy lead.
Pleasant Home scored a second-half touchdown when Avry King scored on about a 50-yard run. The two-point attempt was good to make the score 20-8.
Neither team scored again as the Bobcats held on for a 20-8 win.
Pleasant Home's JV squad plays again on Tuesday, Oct. 14 against Straughn. The game will be played at Straughn with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m.
