Lady Bulldogs finish fourth

The 2003 high school volleyball season came to an end Saturday for the Andalusia Lady Bulldogs and Opp Lady Bobcats.

The Lady Bobcats went 0-2 at the regional tournament to finish eighth.

The Lady Bulldogs went 2-2 and finished fourth.

Andalusia began the tournament with a loss to Daleville in a close match. The Daleville squad topped Andalusia 25-22, 25-22.

The Lady Bulldogs rebounded with a win against Headland in the loser's bracket by a final score of 25-20, 25-21.

The Lady Bulldogs played Dale County next and won by a final score of 25-18, 25-23.

Ashford was next for the Lady Bulldogs. Ashford won the match by a final score of 25-8, 25-10.

Ashford finished third in the tournament. Gulf Shores and UMS-Wright finished as the Region Champion and Runner-Up and advance to the Elite Eight in Pelham.

Andalusia Head Coach Angie Grimes said she was pleased with the way her team worked and performed during the 2003 season.

"Our play improved a lot," Grimes said. "We are much more competitive."

Grimes said the team did very well in postseason play.

"I was proud of them. We did a good job," Grimes said.
