Nickson stars in comeback win against No. 1 T.R. Miller

Chris Nickson of Pike County High School accounted for 356 yards in total offense and four touchdowns and directed a game-winning scoring drive in the final minutes to move into the football prep spotlight of the Alabama High School Athletic Association.

A statewide survey of outstanding performances is made each week.

The senior quarterback tossed a 22-yard fade pass to Nick Walker with 11 seconds left to play for the winning touchdown as Pike County upended top-ranked T.R. Miller 27-21.

For the game, Nickson completed 15 of 28 passes for 232 yards and three touchdowns (10, 23 and 22 yards) and rushed 19 times for 124 yards and a four-yard scoring run. On defense he intercepted a pass in the end zone to halt a T.R. Miller drive.

Other spotlight performances:

€ Derrick Frith of Meek rushed for 258 yards and six touchdowns (4, 28, 45, 38, 36 and 65 yards), caught an 18-yard pass, recorded 16 tackles and blocked a punt in a 58-22 triumph over Hubbertville.

Drew Jackson of Oneonta completed 16 of 24 passes for 377 yards and a touchdown in a 37-0 win over Glencoe.

€ Rhod Carroll rushed for 303 yards and four touchdowns and caught a scoring pass in Autaugaville's 58-32 victory over St. Jude.

€ Emmitt Bacon of Lee-Montgomery intercepted three passes for 75 yards and returned one 41 yards for a touchdown in a 35-6 triumph over Selma.

€ Jeremy Robinson passed for 229 yards and two touchdowns and added 162 yards rushing for three touchdowns in Highland Home's 48-30 win over Keith.

€ Will Miller of American Christian recorded 18 tackles, including two sacks, and a fumble recovery in a 55-28 victory over Sweet Water.

€ Danyiel Beck ran for four touchdowns (2, 3, 1 and 3 yards) and passed for a pair of TDs as Bradshaw won the final game of the 37-year series with Coffee, 54-7. The two schools will merge next year.

€ Leroy's defense scored five touchdowns off turnovers-Frankie Norwood's 25-yard fumble return and 45-yard interception return, Drew Smith's fumble recovery in the end zone, Courtney Anderson's 45-yard fumble return and Josh Reed's 25-yard interception return-in a 52-0 decision over McIntosh.

€ Terrell Wilson ran 28 times for 176 yards and five touchdowns and Demario Davis intercepted three passes-one he returned 67 yards for a touchdown-in Williamson's 42-16 win over St. Paul's.

€ Eric Albright of Sylvania rushed 34 times for 270 yards and three touchdowns in a 35-10 victory over Geraldine.

€ Ali Sharrief rushed for four touchdowns (7, 12, 67 and 8 yards) and recorded 11 tackles while teammate Cam Robinson scored three times (50 and 20 yards rushing and 70 yards on a pass reception) in North Jackson's 48-32 win over Boaz.

€ Eric McCants of Frisco City ran for 192 yards and two touchdowns (97 and 36 yards) and returned a punt 54 yards for another TD in a 47-0 triumph over J. F. Shields.

€ Cory Kelly ran for 253 yards and three touchdowns in Oxford's 42-28 win over Wetumpka, led by Daniel Jones' 210 yards passing for three touchdowns and 126 yards rushing for another TD.

€ Devin Goodwin of Demopolis completed 11 of 13 passes for 237 yards and four touchdowns in a 40-6 victory over Fayette County.

€ Drake Hall of Winfield rushed 11 times for 228 yards and three touchdowns (5, 75 and 75 yards) in a 52-0 triumph over Phil Campbell.

€ Michael Thomas passed for 225 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 87 yards and two more scores in Coffeeville's 42-7 win over Fruitdale.

€ Aaron Johns of Thomasville ran for 200 yards and three touchdowns (23, 3 and 55 yards) and carried a screen pass 59 yards for another score in a 45-18 triumph over Hillcrest-Evergreen.

€ Jason Watts and Jesse Ochocki scored four touchdowns each in American Christian's 55-28 victory over Sweet Water.

€ Nathan Wellman ran 28 times for 210 yards and four touchdowns (13, 33, 1 and 10 yards) and New Hope's 34-28 loss to Locust Fork.

€ Jehakaro Joseph of Stanhope Elmore ran for four touchdowns in a 34-12 win over Benjamin Russell.

€ Brandon Parker's interception in the end zone with 19 seconds to play preserved Marbury's 8-0 victory over Billingsley.

€ David McCants of Tuscaloosa County ran 18 times for 243 yards and three touchdowns in a 49-34 win over Parker.

€ Jacary Atkinson of Valley rushed for 194 yards and two touchdowns and passed for 105 yards and another TD in a 34-7 win over Sylacauga.

€ Brent Nast completed 19 of 24 passes for 229 yards and three touchdowns and Cameron Daniel was on the receiving end of nine catches for 137 yards and a 42-yard score in Huntsville's 48-24 triumph over J.O. Johnson.

€ Brandon Gladney of Austin ran for 235 yards and three touchdowns (26, 40 and 36 yards) in a 42-33 victory over Grissom.

€ Alfonso Gross rushed 22 times for 231 yards and a pair of touchdowns in W.S. Neal's 21-13 victory over Straughn.

€ Jerrickus Speights of Gardendale recorded 10 tackles, including four sacks, and caused a fumble that Kyle Christmas returned 25 yards for a touchdown in a 21-0 win over Carver-Birmingham.

€ Patrick White ran for 133 yards and two touchdowns and also passed for 161 yards in Daphne's 50-7 triumph over Foley.

€ Glenn Fennell of Guntersville rolled up 261 all-purpose yards, ran for two touchdowns (50 and 20 yards) and caught a 70-yard scoring pass in a 50-7 victory over Douglas.

€ Nick Bryant rushed for 207 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns (24 and 94 yards) in Fyffe's 48-7 win over Ider.

€ Chris Lombardo carried 25 times for 206 yards in Westbrook Christian's 42-14 victory over West End-Walnut Grove.

€ James Burns of LaFayette ran for three touchdowns and returned an interception 75 yards for another score in a 39-7 triumph over Dadeville.

€ Stevie Crews' two touchdowns led Bibb County to its first win of the season, 28-6 over Livingston.
