Wildcats advance to playoffs

The Florala Wildcats earned a big win last night. The Wildcats defeated visiting Houston County by a final score of 37-16 to secure a playoff spot, according to Head Coach Doug Vickery.
Florala went on top 6-0 in the first quarter on a 48-yard interception return by Heath Bedsole.
Houston County answered with 16 unanswered points to take a 16-6 lead.
Florala, not to be outdone, responded with 31 unanswered points the rest of the way for a 37-16 win.
Corderus Smiley had one Florala touchdown on run following a Rick Williams' 38-yard pass reception from Robby Evans.
Xavier Jones added the final score of the first half to give the Wildcats a 25-16 lead. He scored when Evans found him for a 26-yard passing touchdown.
Evans ended the game 6-of-11 passing for 109 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed the ball four times for 55 yards.
Smiley had 20 carries for 128 yards and two touchdowns in the game.
Vickery said it felt great to win and get into the playoffs. Vickery said he is happiest for the seniors who "have been through so much."
