The ongoing war on drugs continued in Covington County during the past weekend, as several drug-related arrests were made, according to an official with the 22nd Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force.

According to the DTF agent, Joey M. Shell, 27, of Andalusia was confronted Saturday by deputies with the Covington County Sheriff's Department at a residence on Harmony Church Road.

A smoking device of a controlled substance was in plain view of the officers, said the DTF agent. A search also revealed items associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine, or "a partial drug lab."

Shell was charged with manufacturing in the second degree, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The suspect is currently being held at Covington County Jail, with the bond amount set as follows: $250,000 for manufacturing, $50,000 for possession of a controlled substance, and $20,000 for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Two women, Stephanie K. Moore, 35, and Tammy C. Vines, 24, of Andalusia and Opp, respectively, were stopped by an officer with the Lockhart Police Department, the DTF agent said.

According to the DTF agent, Vines threw the smoking device out the window and across the road at the time of the stop.

"The smoking device was retrieved, and a search was conducted," said the DTF agent. "A small plastic container of meth was found."

Vines allegedly scuffled with the officer during the arrest, the DTF agent said. Vines was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest.

Moore was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The bonds set for Vines and Moore were $10,000 for possession of a controlled substance and $3,000 for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Vines also has a bond for resisting arrest set at $3,000.
