The Florala Wildcats will get to play in the championship game of the Mizell Memorial Hospital Christmas Tournament thanks to a hefty 90-53 victory over the Ariton Purple Cats Monday night.

The Wildcats will face their rivals from across the state line - the Laurel Hill Hoboes, and head coach Kent Zessin, brother of Florala head coach Brent Zessin.

The first period was tight, with Florala taking a slim 21-17 lead at the end of the first 8 minutes.

For the Wildcats, Tristan Matthews led the first period with eight, including six points off of three-pointers.

For the Purple Cats, Aaron Reeves had six, including one three-pointer.

Florala's Kaleb Schofield also landed a three-pointer in the first.

In the second period, the Wildcats took a commanding 25-point lead and never looked back, with three-pointers finding their way into the basket from all over the Wildcat's half of the court.

Xavier Jones, Schofield, Victor Hobdy, and Matthews all found the basket from the land of three.

In the third period, the Wildcats kept the pressure on as they took a 66-37 lead with Danny Wilson, A.J. Thompson, Xavier Jones, Vance Gettis, and Matthews all finding the basket.

For the Purple Cats, Aaron Reeves netted six points, with Bobby Terry scoring four. Joseph Vanzandt also scored for the cats.

In the fourth, the Purple Cats were again no match for the Wildcats, as Gettis had hot hands, finding the basket for seven points. Josh Johnson also found the basket a few times, netting seven points for the Wildcats in the fourth.

The Purple Cats tried hard, nailing four three-pointers in the final period, but it wasn't enough as the Wildcats bombed the Purple Cats by a 90-53 final.
