Late Tuesday afternoon, the Covington County Sheriff's Department released the name of the victim of what is being called by investigators as a homocide, in Florala.

Colin Douglas Millick, 56, has been identified as the victim of the Monday incident that ocurred on the corner of 7th and 10th Streets in Florala.

Initially reported through E-911 Monday afternoon as an "unattended death" is now a homicide investigation, according to Covington County Sheriff Anthony Clark. Clark was one of many law enforcement agents present at the scene of the homicide Monday evening, at the corner of 7th and 10th in Florala.

"We know it was a white male," said Clark earlier in the day before the name was released. "Right now, that's about all we can say."

The Sheriff's Department is coordinating the investigation along with the Florala Police Department, the Covington County District Attorney's office, the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.

The call came through the Covington County E-911 at 3:48 p.m. When the Florala Police Department and Florala EMS arrived, the victim was found and, according to the press report released by the Sheriff's Department, appeared to have been assaulted.

Covington County Coroner Norman Hobson arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

"We're still gathering information," said the Chief Assistant District Attorney Greg Gambril, who was also on the scene Monday night. He could not comment to the nature of the wounds or cause of death.

According to neighbors, an older white male had been working on the property, fixing it up, but they could not confirm if it was the same man who had been killed. One neighbor said it was the owner of the property who discovered the body and notified authorities.

According to Sheriff Clark, the investigation is ongoing, with Walt Inabinett heading the team. Authorities are asking that anyone with any information regarding the incident to call 334-428-2648.
