Jags defeat Tigers

The season openers produced losses for the Red Level varsity basketball teams on Saturday.
The varsity boys fell to the Hillcrest Jaguars by a final score of 49-39.
Frank Tolbert was the leading scorer for Red Level with 24 points.
Russell Rigdon scored 6 points. Will McInvale added 4 points. Justin Griggs hit for 3 points. Jermaine Jackson and Larry Hudson added 1 point each.
Hillcrest was on top by one point after one period of play by a score of 7-6.
The Jags got hot in the second quarter stretching the lead to 14 points and held a 28-14 lead at the halftime break.
In the third quarter, the Jags added to the lead and were on top 43-23 going into the fourth quarter.
The Tigers attempted a rally, but came up short falling by a final count of 49-39.
The Lady Tigers from Red Level fell to the Lady Jaguars by a final score of 59-12.
Terissa Franklin was the leading scorer for Red Level with 6 points. Adrianna Calloway, Erica Crawford and Janaye Brown scored 2 points each.
Candy Jackson paced Hillcrest with 19 points.
Red Level won the B-team game. The B-team Tigers outscored the visiting Jags 33-21.
Tim Ryce was the leading scorer for Red Level with 13 points. Dominic Williams added 11 points. Malcolm Lawson hit for 9 points in the win.
The B-team went on top 9-7 in the first quarter and held a 16-10 lead at the halftime intermission.
The B-team Tigers stretched the lead to 12 points in the third quarter going on top by a score of
26-14 entering the fourth quarter.
The B-team Tigers did not slow down in the final stanza en route to a 33-21 win.
The Red Level squads return to action today when they travel to Straughn.
