Lady Bulldogs dump Lady Tigers Friday

The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs soundly defeated the Straughn Lady Tigers 44-32 in basketball action Friday afternoon at the sixth annual Red Level Christmas Tournament.

In the first period, the Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 14-4 lead, with three different Bulldog players scoring.

The Dogs were led by Ashley Johnson with eight points.

In the second period, Andalusia stretched their lead by netting an additional 10 points, but the Tigers had come to life and closed the gap to nine.

Straughn scored 11 points in the period, but still trailed 24-15 after two periods of play.

In the third period, the ladies from Andalusia jumped out to a fast start, expanding on their lead by scoring 12 points - eight of which were off of Tiger fouls at the free throw line.

Straughn managed to put six more points on the board, but trailed 36-21 after three periods.

In the fourth period, the Tigers tried to make a game of it by scoring 11 points. It was all for not though as the Lady Dogs scored eight points from the free throw line, giving them the 44-32 victory.

Andalusia plays their next game tonight at 6 p.m.

Ashley Johnson lead the Lady Bulldogs with 17 points on the night.
