Byron C. Hair, 90, of Andalusia died Monday, December 22, 2003 at his residence.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with Dr. frank Beall and Father Bob Randall officiating. Thefamily will greet friends in the fellowship hall of the First Presbyterian Church at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Survivors include hi daughters, Joy Tway of Andalusia, Ann (Lamar) McGlaun of Enterprise, and Nancy (Marshall) Skinner of Destin, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.
The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church.
Mr. Hair was a lifelong resident of Andalusia and graduate of Andalusia High School. He attended Auburn University on baseball scholarship and later joined the National Guard. He formed and was co-owner of Brown Hair and Tire Company. He was the manager of the LBW Golf Course from its inception until his retirement in 1985. Because of his love for being around people, he went back to work as a greeter for Wal-Mart until his final retirement in 1996. Mr. Hair was also a former member and president of the Lions’ Club. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he sang in the choir, served as an elder of the church and as a former Sunday School director.
Cathleen Ramer
Cathleen Ramer, 84, of Andalusia died Sunday, December 21, 2003 in an Andalusia hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Carolina Cemetery with Chaplain Johnnie White officiating.
Survivors include her daughters, Frances Rawls of Andalusia, Glenda Bess of Paxton, Fla. and Quida Forehand of Andalusia; her sons, Woodrow Ramer of Polkton, N.C. and Irvin Ramer of Andalusia; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Carl Ramer; and her grandson, Ronnie Ramer.
Pallbearers will be Daryl Bess, Alvin Bess, Steven Rawls, Woody Ramer, Michael Forehand and Ricky Padgett.
Ferrin C. Smith
Ferrin C. Smith, 87, of Andalusia died Monday, December 22, 2003 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 24, 2003 at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Greenwood Cemetery in Florala and with Minister Jason Green officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdaqy, December 23, 2003 at Foreman Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Mamie Vela Smith of Andalusia; his son, Dr. Larry C. Smith of Mississippi; two grandsons, Kevin Smith and Christopher Smith; his sister, Margaret (Pete) Lowe of Andalusia; his stepson, Wade Garrett; his step-grandson, Douglas Wade Garett; and a number of nieces and nephews and cousins.
The family wishes to thank the Compassionate Hands Hospice of Geneva and Dr. O.D. Mitchum.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Central Church of Christ Building Fund.
Steve Maddox
Steve Maddox of Andalusia died Monday, December 22, 2003 at his Luverne residence.
Funeral services are incomplete and will be announced later by Keahey Fuenral Home.
J.B. Hoyt Jr.
J.B. Hoyt Jr., 43, of Andalusia died Friday, December 19, 2003 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, December 21, 2003 at Keahey Funeral Home with Rev. John Hunt officiating and Darlene Hughes shared a poem. Guitar music was provided by Butch Coon and trumpet was provided by his son, Franklin Winebrenner.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of services on Sunday, December 21, 2003 at Keahey Funeral Home.
Survivors include his girlfriend and the mother of his children, Charlene Winebrenner of Andalusia; his sons Jack Hoyt III of Andalusia, Logan Allan Hoyt of Andalusia and Franklin Winebrenner of Andalusia; daughters, Chelsea Hoyt of Andalusia; Kelly Duncan of Ohio; brothers, Charles Hoyt of West Virginia, Roger Hoyt of California, Robert Allan Foster of Defuniak Springs, Fla., Gary Barker of Ohio, Richard Barker of West Virginia, Michael Brker of Ohio; sisters, Lee Anne Cabana of Jacksonville, Fla., Paula Anderson of Ohio, and Shirley Barker of Ohio; sister-in-law, Tammie Hughes; god-children, Toni Hines, Noni Hines, Christopher Pierce, Amanda Goings, Kayla White and J.T. White.
James Walker
James Walker, 69, of Andalusia died Friday, December 19, 2003 ina
Dothan hospital.
Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2003 at Keahey Fuenral Home with Rev. J.T. Castleberry officiating. Special music was provided by the family. Burial followed in Stone Lake Gardens Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Walker of Andalusia; son and daughter-in-law, Eddie Joe and Dot Walker of Andalusia; son Ricky Ainsworth Walker of Camden; sister, Hattie Bolling of Andalusia; daughter-in-law, Deborah K. Owens of Georgia; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
