Red Level takes title

The sixth annual Red Level Invitational Christmas Tournament came to an end in with very little drama Monday night.

The Red Level Tigers won the boys' title game of the tournament by a final score of 77-52.

The Tigers would have won if the team had not scored in the final period after taking a 56-32 lead in the third quarter.

Frank Tolbert, who was named Touanrment MVP, scored 24 points in the win. Russell Rigdon added 13 points.

Tim Ryce hit for 9 points. Jermaine Jackson and Will McInvale scored 7 points each. Also scoring for Red Level were Larry Hudson, Eric Longmire, Malcolm Lawson, Dominic Williams and Randal Hunt.

Aaron Allen paced Samson with 19 points. Lindsay Marsh added 12.

In other action, the Straughn Tigers won the third-place game. Straughn outscored Kinston 68-62 for the win.

Alphonso Freeney scored 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in the win. Jared Armstrong scored 21 points, including 9 points on three three-pointers, in the contest.

Also scoring for Straughn were Jeremy Hunt, Hunter Kinsaul, Scotty Rabren, Jeff Bass and Andrew Huggins.

Jeremy Driver had 23 points for Kinston. Ramsey Phillips added 13 points, including four three-pointers.

Luverne topped T.R. Miller by a final score of 66-63 earlier Monday. Also, Florala defeated New Brockton Monday morning.
