Tigers top Andalusia Bulldogs

AThe Andalusia High School boys' basketball team earned mixed results Friday night against the visiting T.R. Miller Tigers.

The varsity Bulldogs fell to the visiting Tigers while the B-team Bulldogs recorded a three-point win.

In the varsity game, the Tigers pounced on the Bulldogs early and held a 12-9 lead at the end of one quarter of play.

The Tigers added to the lead in the second quarter and were on top 24-16 at the halftime intermission.

After three periods, the Tigers held a 7-point lead by a score of 35-28.

Andalusia mounted a rally in the fourth quarter, but were unable to get the win with the Tigers earning a 45-39 victory.

Andalusia got within three points of the Tigers with 40 seconds left in regulation when Andrae Wright got two points on a putback after Michael Cauley missed.

The Bulldogs called a timeout trailing the Tigers by a score of 42-39.

The Tigers made free throws down the stretch to secure a 45-39 win.

Greg Bogan was the leading scorer for the Tigers with 21 points, including two key free throws late in the game.

Trey paul added 10 points for the Tigers in the win.

Brandon Wilson was the leading scorer for the Bulldogs with 15 points. Josh Johnson added 10 points. Michael Cauley and Andrae Wright had 4 points each. Lance Evans had 3 points. Chris Cotton had 2 points. Christian Goldsmith had 1 point.

In the B-team game, Andalusia earned a 32-29 win.

The Bulldogs went on top 7-2 in the first quarter and held a 14-8 lead at the half.

In the third quarter, Andalusia was outscored 10-9 but still had a five-point lead by a score of 23-18.

Alex Taylor was the leading scorer for the Bulldogs with 8 points. William Alverson added 6 points. Andrew McTyere also hit for 6 points in the win. Jacob Cauley and Deandre Wright had 4 points each. Cherno Bah and Tyler Centner had 2 points each.

Julius Harris paced T.R. Miller with 14 points.

The Bulldogs were scheduled to play Tuesday against Charles Henderson High School but the game has been postponed.

Andalusia's next game is a first-round game in the Andalusia Invitational Tournament on Thursday, Dec. 11.
