On January 4, a deputy with the Covington County Sheriff’s Department made a traffic stop on Highway 84 East in Opp for a traffic violation. During the course of the traffic stop, the deputy located a light bulb smoking device in plain view. Agents with the Drug Task Force were then called to the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, Terry Dewayne Williamson, 37, of the Horn Hill community, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
During the course of the investigation, agents of the DTF, along with the Covington County deputies, went to Williamson's residence. Consent to search the residence was granted by Williamson. Agents then searched the residence and during the search, located all of the chemicals needed for the manufacture of methamphetamine. Also located during the search were containers of bi-layered liquid (methamphetamine oil) in excess of 1,000 grams, a pseudo ephedrine extraction, more light bulb smoking devices, and a small amount of marijuana.
Arrested in connection with the items found in the residence were Williamson and Marilyn Delores Williamson, 36, also of the Horn Hill community. Both suspects were charged with manufacturing a controlled substance in the first degree, trafficking of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana in the second degree, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The bond amounts for each suspect are as follows: $350,000 for manufacturing, $350,000 for trafficking, $3,000 for possession of marijuana, and $20,000 for possession of drug paraphernalia.
