An Andalusia man who was served with a grand jury indictment for possession of a controlled substance was also arrested on new charges for drugs, according to an agent with the 22nd Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force.

Andy Ray Walker, 36, was at a residence in Gantt when DTF officers arrived there after a deputy with the Covington County Sheriff's Department arrested Walker for the indictment and called for assistance from the DTF. Upon arrival, the officers had suspicion to search for drugs, according to the arresting DTF officer.

"We went to Walker's residence, and after we were granted consent to search the premises, we found a meth lab," the officer said.

The agent added two other occupants were located at the residence.

Carl Walker, 36, who is Andy Ray Walker's brother from Andalusia, and Karen Merridith, 45, also of Andalusia, were arrested in connection with the methamphetamine discovered at the residence.

"The subjects were each charged with manufacturing in the first degree, trafficking, and possession of drug paraphernalia," the agent said.

The bond amounts for each of the individuals are as follows: $350,000 for manufacturing, $350,000 for trafficking, and $20,000 for drug paraphernalia. All subjects are currently being held at the Covington County Jail.
