Enterprise cages Bobcats

After earning wins against Pleasant Home on Saturday, the Opp High School varsity boys' and B-team boys' basketball teams faced tough losses at the hands of the visiting Enterprise Wildcats on Monday.

The varsity Bobcats fell behind 13-4 in the first quarter and struggled shooting the ball against Enterprise's zone defense in the second period falling behind 28-14 at the half.

The Wildcats added to the lead in the second half for a 59-42 win.

Ryan Mann had 13 points to lead the way for Enterprise. Nathan Baxter added 12 points in the win.

Opp's points came from nine different players. Emanuel Lane had the most with 15 points. Daniel Coleman scored 8. Also scoring for Opp were Rhett Barnes, Tyrell Hunter, Albert Tyson, Alphonso Harris, Sanches Stephens, Mariel Mount and Marcus Hines.

The B-team Opp Bobcats fell to Enterprise 66-26.

Jacob Nawlin scored 9 for Opp. Demaril Smith added 8. Also scoring for Opp were Bryan Tillis, Zach Banks and Torshawn Brooks.

The boys' teams from Opp High School fared better on Saturday with wins against the visiting Pleasant Home Eagles.

The varsity Bobcats earned a 68-49 win against Pleasant Home.

Emanuel Lane led the way with 19 points. Daniel Coleman had 14 points, 14 rebounds and 7 steals in the win.

Tyrell Hunter scored 5 points, had 6 steals and 12 assists. Sanches Stephens had 15 rebounds to go with 7 points. Mariel Mount scored 7 points and had 8 boards. Holt Parker scored 8 points. Alphonso Harris scored just 2 points, but had 8 rebounds. Rhett Barnes and Albert Tyson also scored.

Chris Little was the leading scorer for Pleasant Home with 18 points. Nathaniel Blount added 12 and Isaac Edgar had 10. Brad Sanders, Daniel Clark and Miles Nichols also scored.

Opp won the B-team game, 42-27. Demaril Smith scored 15 points for Opp. Also scoring for the Bobcats were Rodney Colston, Danshae Edwards, Mario Jones, J'nico Mount, Zach Banks and Torshawn Brooks.

Pleasant Home's points came from Avry King, Jared Powell, Clark Sanders, Bob Ballard, Josh Douglas, Sam Bush, Andrew Nichols and Adam Copeland.

The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles won the varsity girls' game.

The Lady Eagles went on top 13-7 in the first quarter.

Opp rallied in the second period and held a 25-24 lead at the halftime break.

The Lady Bobcats were on top 39-36 after three periods of play.

Pleasant Home rallied in the final quarter for a 55-49 win.

Amy Jacobs scored 17 points, including a 6-for-6 performance from the free-throw line, to pace Pleasant Home. Leah Turman added 11 points. Beth Cox had 10 points. Also scoring were Heather Little, Jessica Johns and Faith Gunter.

Sasha Musgrove had 15 points for Opp and Trinity Osborn hit for 14. Kiara Henderson scored 11. Also scoring were Natasha Archie, Jessica Wood and Brianne Nawlin.

All three Opp teams visit Andalusia today with the B-team game beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Pleasant Home travels to Florala today for an important area game against the Wildcats. The B-team game tips off the action at 4:30 p.m.
