Lady Eagles top Brantley, 47-35

R-E-S-P-E-C-T Š find out what it means to the Pleasant Home Lady Eagles.

It means a lot. The varsity girls' team at Pleasant Home earned a little more respect last night with a 47-35 win against the visiting Brantley Lady Bulldogs to improve to 3-2 in Class 1A, Area 2 play. The Lady Eagles are now 5-8 overall.

Pleasant Home went on top 9-8 in the first quarter and then used a 15-10 run to open up the lead.

The Pleasant Home fans were happy as the Lady Eagles jogged off the court and into the locker room with a 24-18 lead at the halftime intermission.

The fans would get even happier in the second half.

The Lady Eagles used an 11-5 run in the third quarter to stretch the lead to 12 points by a score of 35-23.

The Lady Eagles glided home

in the fourth quarter for a win.

Amy Jacobs led the Lady Eagles in scoring with 13 points in the win. She was one of 10 Pleasant Home players to score in the win.

Beth Cox added 8 points. Faith Gunter and Leah Turman scored 6 points each.

Heather Little had 5 points. Jessica Bryant added 3. Jessica Johns and Katy Wiggins scored 2 points each. Kimberly Jacobs and Carly Lundy each had 1 point.

Sherry Gulley was the leading scorer for Brantley with 12 points. Jessica Daniels added 11 points.

In the varsity boys' game, it was a different story for the Pleasant Home fans.

Devin Person was a marked man before the game because of his ability to can three-pointers for the visiting Brantley Bulldogs.

The Eagles did a good job of limiting Person. The problem was that Kevin Pitts had a career night.

Pitts ended the game with 32 points, including 10 three-pointers, to lead the Bulldogs to a 75-57 win against Pleasant Home.

The Brantley Bulldogs scored 17 points as a team. Pleasant Home had 3 three-pointers for a total of 20 in the game.

Chris Little was the leading scorer for Pleasant Home with 21 points. Nathaniel Blount hit for 17 points. Brent Carter added 8. Isaac Edgar hit for 5. Daniel Clark scored 4 points. Miles Nichols had 2 points.

Brantley also won the B-team game by outscoring Pleasant Home 40-36.

Thad Frazier scored 14 points for Brantley. Chris Booker added 9 points.

Pleasant Home's points came from Adam Copeland, Jared Powell, Andrew Nichols, Avry King, Derrick Taylor, Clark Sanders, Bob Ballard and Sam Bush.

All three Pleasant Home teams return to action today when the Eagles fly to Opp for a date with the Bobcats. The B-team game tips off at 4:30 p.m.

Pleasant Home plays at Florala on Tuesday with the action starting at 4:30 p.m.
