LBWCC sweeps Snead State

The LBW Community College basketball teams did not have trouble with Snead State on Sunday bouncing them in basketball action.

The LBWCC Lady Saints earned a 53-50 win after falling behind 36-24 in the first half.

The win improves the Lady Saints record to 15-4 on the season and 2-3 in conference play. The Lady Saints are currently third in the conference standings with two losses to Shelton State and one to Northwest Shoals.

Marla Akins led the Lady Saints past Snead State with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Crystal Cook had 8 points and 20 rebounds in the win.

Also scoring for LBWCC were Amanda Dubose, Monica Wheat, Sherekia Meadows, Ashley Berklin, Tatharea Hatten, Tabritta McDaniel and Terlisha Sims.

In the men's game, the LBWCC Saints slammed Snead State 87-67.

Antonio Webb had a big game for the Saints scoring 33 points, including seven three-pointers.

Curtis Boyette added 13 points. Marcques Hughes hit for 10 points. Renaldo Dorsey just missed a double-double with 8 points and 11 rebounds.

Also scoring for LBWCC were Darius Howard, Adrian Hunter, Andrae Leslie, Renaldo Maxwell, Dominique Powell, Darryl Ogletree and Daniel Freeman.

The Saints are now 8-9 overall and 2-2 in conference play. The Saints are currently second in the conference standings.

Both the men and women will be on the road for their next game. The squads travel to Gadsden to play Gadsden State on Saturday. The women's game is scheduled to tip off at 3 p.m. followed by the men's game at 5 p.m.

The next road game is Monday when Lawson State travels south to Andalusia. The women's game is slated for 5:30 p.m. followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free to all LBW Community College basketball games.
