Man facing attempted murder charge

FLORALA - A reported assualt Sunday evening in Florala turned into an investigation of an attempted murder case, according to a Covington County Sheriff's Department press release.

Florala Police officers were the first to respond to the residence of Harold Throne Haynes, 43, on West 8th Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found Haynes to have a stab wound to his stomach and several cuts on his arms and hands.

FPD officers were assisted by CCSD deputies and Covington County Drug Task Force agents in the investigation.

Haynes was transferred to Florala Hospital by Florala EMS, and later transferred to Wiregrass Hospital in Geneva by Opp Rescue Squad.

Albert L. Thrash, 49, who lives in Florala but is from out of state, was charged with attepted murder of Haynes and placed in the Covington County Jail on a $500,000 bond.

"(Thrash) was from outside of the state, but he was raised in Lockhart," CCSD Investigator Walt Inabinett said.

When contacted Wednesday afternoon, a spokesperson in the Intensive Care Unit of Wiregrass Hospital said Haynes was in stable condition.

This case remains under investigation by the CCSD and the Florala Police Department.
