Mattie Lou Fowler

Mattie Lou Fowler, 106, of Red Level died Tuesday, January 13, 2004 in an Andalusia Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2004 at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Sells officiating. Burial followed at Buck Creek Cemetery.

She is survived by a son, Vernon LeRoy Fowler of Red Level; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a number of great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Adam Fowler, Paul Alley, Harold West, Michael Fowler, Cade Fowler, Brad Alley, Kyle Adams, David Anderson

Kenneth Barton

Kenneth Barton, 63, of Gantt, died Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at his residence.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2004 at Able Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Sharpe officiating. The eulogy was by Valery Carson. Foreman Funeral Home directed the services.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Barton of Gantt; son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Suzanne Barton of Troy; daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Don Carson of Auburn; three grandchildren, Katy Fisher, Mike Fisher, and McKenna Barton; mother, Bea Barton of Gantt; sister, Gloria Riley of Andalusia.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, rememberances be made to the charity of your choice.

Pallbearers were Rhett Riley, Dodd Riley, Donald Barton, Joe Barton, Tim Barton and David Barton.

Sara Lou Helms

Sara Lou Helms, 74, of Hartford, formerly of Red Level died Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at her residence.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 17, 2004 at Bethel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Hartford with Keahey Funeral Home directing with Minister Allen Carr, Jr. officiating the services. Special music was provided by the family.

Survivors include four sons, Harold Wayne (Amy) Smith of Hartford, Farrell (Shelia) Smith of Bellwood, Billy Ray (Barbara) Smith of Bedford, Indiana, William Earl Smith of Loango; daughters,, Margaret (Rickey) Lloyd of North Carolina, James Edward (Opal) Smith of Georgia; brother, Jimmie Sue (Paul) Faingnaert of Red Level, Horace Barfoot of Opp; sisters, Mattie Lee Atkinson, Jennie Ruth Taylor, Mae Ree Robinson; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Helms was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earl Smith and son, Robert Earl Smith; a sister, Mary Madelene.

Pallbearers were Lee Holloway, David Holloway, Micky Smith, Michael Smith, Billy Bolden, Joe Bolden, Chris Davis, and Joshua Smith.
