Gladys Williams Powell
Gladys Williams Powell, 90, of Andalusia died Saturday, January 24, 2004 in a local nursing home.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2004 at Adellum Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Boles officiating. Burial followed in Adellum Church Cemetery. Special music was by Sheila Grimes, Kathleen Walker and Cheryl Raley.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Michael Williams, Joyce Wilson, Fay Raum, Geraldine Crawford, Dewitt Williams, Phillip Williams, Jimmy Williams, Elton Williams, Richard Williams, Joe Williams, Jerry Williams, Ronnie Williams, Alice Walter, Ruth Nation, Clara Powell, and Margaret Bass.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest W. &uot;Red&uot; Powell; her parents, Robert and Lucy Williams; and her brothers, Walter Williams, J.T. Wiliams, Reuben Williams, and Cranford Williams.
Pallbearers were her nephews, Michael Williams, Dewitt Williams, Jerry Williams, Ronnie Williams, Rhett Wilson, and Thagard Colvin.
Jimmy Brown
Jimmy Brown, 79, of Pensacola, Fla., formerly of Andalusia died Friday, January 23, 2004 at his residence in Pensacola.
Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2004 from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Brown was a native of Andalusia but had lived in Pensacola for 45 years. He was a veteran of WWII and worked for New York Life Insurance for the past 40 years. He attended the University of Alabama and was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, also, he was an active member of the Warrington United Methodist Church of Pensacola.
Survivors include his wife, Allyn Hammer Brown of Pensacola; his daughters, Janie Brown Snow, Virginia Allyn Brown, and Julie Brown Ashdown; his grandchildren, Jimmy and Elizabeth Snow and Jame and Emily Ashdown.
