Pleasant Home Lady Eagles win

The Pleasant Home varsity girls' basketball team improved to 10-10 on the season with a 42-35 win against the visiting W.S. Neal Lady Eagles on Senior Night last night.

Pleasant Home spread its wings in the first quarter building an 18-2 lead. Pleasant Home was on top 25-11 at the halftime break.

In the second half, the W.S. Neal Lady Blue Eagles found a groove and put together a 17-7 run and trailed by just four points going into the fourth quarter.

Pleasant Home did not panic and went on a 10-7 run in the final period for a 42-35 win.

Amy Jacobs was the leading scorer for Pleasant Home with 10 points. Carly Lundy had 9 points. Faith Gunter hit for 7.

Also scoring for Pleasant Home were Heather Little, Jessica Bryant, Kimberly Jacobs, Beth Cox and Leah Turman.

Carolyn Marshall had 12 points for W.S. Neal. Also scoring were Rhonda Bradley, Lillian Fantroy, Lakesha Marshall, Timiya Nolan and Jessica Smith.

The W.S. Neal Blue Eagles won their first game of the season in the varsity boys' game by a final score of 54-51.

The game was close from the start with Pleasant Home on top 10-8 after one quarter.

The Blue Eagles held a 24-23 lead at the half.

The Pleasant Home Eagles took back the lead in the third and were on top 32-30 going into the final quarter.

W.S. Neal made some clutch free throws down the stretch to prevent a Pleasant Home rally for a 54-51 win.

The Blue Eagles are now 1-19 on the season.

The loss drops Pleasant Home to 4-17 on the season.

Nathaniel Blount was the leading scorer for Pleasant Home with 27 points. Devin Spivey added 11. Also scoring were Brad Sanders, Brent Carter and Chris Little.

Marcus Folmar paced W.S. Neal with 24 points, including 6-of-8 free throws. Jeremy Burch added 16 points, including 12 points from four three-pointers.

W.S. Neal went to the line 13 times in the game and converted 8 free throws.

Pleasant Home was 5-of-11 from the charity stripe.

W.S. Neal won the B-team game, 27-18. Pleasant Home's points came from Avry King, Jared Powell, Clark Sanders, Adam Copeland and Josh Douglass.

The Pleasant Home Eagles face another team from Escambia County on Friday. The Eagles travel west to Flomaton to take on the Hurricanes beginning with a B-team game at 4:30 p.m.
