AHS Lady Bulldogs record victory

It was senior night at Brantley High School last night and the home-standing Brantley Bulldogs defeated the visiting Andalusia Bulldogs 69-46 in the varsity boys' game.

The varsity girls' game, however, was the opposite with the Andalusia Lady Bulldogs cruising to a 59-24 win.

The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs built a 22-6 lead in the first half and were out in front 32-17 at the halftime break.

In the second half, Andalusia continued to put distance between themselves and the Brantley Lady Bulldogs with a 15-7 run in the third quarter.

The fourth quarter was an even more dominating performance by the Andalusia players as they outscored the Brantley Lady Bulldogs 12-0.

Briana Cross was the leading scorer for Andalusia with 11 points. She was the only player in the game to reach double digits in points.

Andalusia had 13 players score in the win. Brittany Calloway scored 9 points. Ashley Johnson scored 8 points. Tanesha Wright hit for 6 points. Tanesha Wytch added 5 points.

Also scoring for Andalusia were Rachel Jones, Ann Huff, Jamila Couch, Kathy Crittenden, April Daniels, Jermecia McNeil, Apri Kilgore and Chelsea Carlson.

Clarissa Knighten was the leading scorer for Brantley with 9 points. Also scoring for Brantley were Sherry Gulley, Jessica Daniels, Lakesha Wright, Helen Walker and TaRhonda Randall.

In the boys' game, Brantley ran out to a 22-9 lead in the first quarter and held a 40-20 lead at the halftime intermission.

The Brantley Bulldogs outscored Andalusia 29-26 in the second half for a 69-46 win.

Derek Weeks was the leading scorer for Brantley with 15 points. Josh Daniels added 13. Kevin Pitts had 12. Devin Person scored 11.

Also scoring for Brantley were Evan Christian, Devaris Skanes, Rashad Smiley, Channing Spivey and DeLange Harris.

Brandon Wilson led all scorers with 22 points for Andalusia. Andrea Wright had 8 points. Lance Evans and Michael Cauley hit for 6 points each.

Also scoring for Andalusia were Josh Johnson and Chris Cotton with 2 points each.

The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs return to action tonight when they host the Class 4A, Area 1 Tournament. The action begins at 5:30 p.m. when Gulf Shores plays UMS-Wright. The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs play Hillcrest (Evergreen) at 7 p.m.

The Andalusia Bulldogs begin play in the boys' Class 4A, Area 1 Tournament on Thursday with a 7 p.m. game against Hillcrest (Evergreen) at Hillcrest High School. UMS-Wright plays Gulf Shores at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
