Lady Bobcats sting Lady Hornets

The Opp High School varsity girls' basketball team made the short trip to Geneva Tuesday looking for a win against the Bullock County Lady Hornets in the Class 4A, Area 3 Tournament.

The Lady Bobcats from Opp got exactly what they wanted with a 66-48 win.

The game was close early with both teams scoring 13 points in the first quarter.

Opp took a slight lead before the end of the first half and held a 28-24 edge at the break.

In the second half, the Lady Bobcats outscored Bullock County 18-14 in the third quarter for a 46-38 advantage.

The fourth quarter was the biggest for the Lady Bobcats as they put together a big run and outscored the Lady Hornets 20-0 until the final minutes of the game.

Bullock County managed to score 10 points late in the game, but it was not enough as Opp held on for a 66-48 win.

Ashley Mock had a big game for Opp scoring 21 points in the win. Kim Crittenden added 14 points. Sasha Musgrove and Trinity Osborn scored 13 points each. Jessica Wood and Kiara Henderson also scored for Opp in the win.

Bullock County's leading scorer was Brittany Dubose with 16 points. Chandra Faulk added 12 points.

Opp will play the host Geneva Lady Panthers in the Class 4A, Area 3 Tournament Championship Game at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13. The game will be played at Geneva High School.

Geneva earned a spot in the area championship game with a 53-30 win against Daleville on Tuesday.

Jasmine Wiggins and Megan Bass scored 12 points each for the Lady Panthers.

Sandie Wise scored 14 points for Daleville in the loss. Kendra McKinney added 11 points for the Daleville Lady Warhawks during last night's game.
