Red Level Tigers advance

The Red Level Tigers pounded the visiting Georgiana Panthers last night in first-round action of the Class 2A, Area 2 Tournament earning a 95-46 victory.

The Tigers clawed out a big lead from the very beginning outscoring Georgiana 31-16 in the first quarter.

The Panthers could not claw their way back into the game before the halftime intermission.

Red Level was way out in front by a score of 53-27 at the half.

In the second half, it was more of the same.

Red Level held a 69-32 lead after three quarters of play en route to a 95-46 win.

Fourteen players scored for Red Level in the game. Frank Tolbert was the leading scorer with 27 points. Russell Rigdon added 14 points. Tim Ryce scored 11 points.

Also scoring for Red Level were Larry Hudson, Kolby Bennett, Jermaine Jackson, Justin Griggs, Eric Longmire, Will McInvale, Malcolm Lawson, Chris Hendrix, Randall Hunt and Princeton Ryce.

The win sends the Tigers into the Class 2A, Area 2 Tournament Championship Game against the Flomaton Hurricanes.

Flomaton earned a spot in the title game with a 56-27 win against Excel in the early game yesterday.

Red Level will play Flomaton at 7 p.m. on Saturday. The game will be played in the gymnasium at Red Level High School.
