Tigers claw Blue Eagles, 81-54

The Straughn Tigers capped off the 2003-04 regular season with a win against the W.S. Neal Blue Eagles on Thursday.

The Tigers pounced on the Blue Eagles early running out to a 19-10 lead in the first quarter.

The Tigers continued to roar in the second quarter and held a 39-24 lead at the halftime break.

In the third quarter, Straughn added 20 points to its total while W.S. Neal scored 16.

The Tigers had stretched the lead to 19 points going into the fourth quarter.

Straughn would have won without scoring in the fourth quarter by holding the Blue Eagles to just 54 points in the game.

The Tigers, however, did not stop scoring pushing their point total to 81 for an 81-54 win.

Jared Armstrong had 23 points for Straughn and also dished out 5 assists in the win.

Garrett Windham scored 12 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in the win.

Alphonso Freeney also had 12 points in the win.

Also scoring for Straughn were Hunter Kinsaul, Scotty Rabren, Jody Sexton, Michael Hattaway, Marshall McGlaun, Andrew Huggins, Andrew Clark and Justin Dortch.

The Straughn Lady Tigers did not play.

The Straughn Tigers will be back in action on Thursday when they take the court in Dothan for the Class 3A, Area 2 Tournament. The Tigers face Elba in first-round action of the tournament.
