Calhoun ends Tigers#039; season

The 2003-04 high school basketball season came to an end at a sub-regional playoff game for the Straughn Tigers last night.

The Tigers fell to Calhoun by a final score of 84-52, eliminating them from the state playoffs.

Calhoun ran out to a 22-12

lead in the first quarter.

The Calhoun Tigers stretched the lead to 28 points before the half with a 28-10 run in the third quarter.

Calhoun was on top 50-22 at the beginning of the second half and added to their lead.

The Calhoun Tigers outscored Straughn 34-30 in the second half to win by 32 points.

D'Andre Brown paced Calhoun with 17 points.

Christopher Tatum and Joshua Simmons scored 13 points each for Calhoun.

Jared Armstrong was the leading scorer for Straughn with 14 points. Garrett Windham added 10 points.

The Calhoun Tigers advance to the Southeast regional being hosted by Troy State University.

Calhoun will play the winner of last night's game between LaFayette and Montgomery Academy at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at TSU.
