Red Level pounds Luverne, 15-3

Red Level travelled to Luverne and pounded the Luverne Tigers in high school baseball action Tuesday.

The Red Level Tigers trailed 2-1 after one inning. Larry Hudson gave Red Level a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when he scored.

Luverne scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning for a 2-1 edge.

Red Level erased the Luverne lead for good in the second inning scoring 10 runs. Casey Hardage scored two runs in the inning. Also scoring for Red Level were Devin Maloy (as a courtesy runner for pitcher Neal Snider), Tyler Walker, Dusty Lee, Larry Hudson, Chaz Maloy, Kyle Skipper, Kyle Adams and Russell Rigdon.

The scoring spree gave the Red Level Tigers an 11-2 lead.

Red Level did not stop there, however, adding to the lead in the fourth inning.

Four more runs scored in the top of the fourth inning to give Red Level a 15-2 lead.

Dusty Lee, Russell Rigdon, Casey Hardage and Shane Mitchell each scored in the fourth inning for Red Level.

Luverne managed one run in the bottom of the fifth, but it was not enough.

The Red Level team walked off the diamond with a 15-3 win in five innings via the 10-run mercy rule.

Neal Snider was the winning pitcher for Red Level. He pitched all five innings allowing three runs on four hits and two walks.

The Red Level Tigers face another set of Tigers today.

The Straughn Tigers visit Red Level for a 3:30 p.m. game.

The Red Level softball team also plays at 3:30 p.m. today.

The Lady Tigers will face the visiting Georgiana Lady Panthers in the first game of the season.

A special pre-game ceremony is planed to honor the memory of former Red Level Head Softball Coach Bobby Dye. The former Red Level head coach died last December.
