The Greenville Tigers Recreation Football team traveled to Evergreen, Saturday and faced the Evergreen Aggies.
The Mighty Mites picked up the first win of the day, 14-0.
"The kids did an absolutely fabulous job," said Amanda Phillips, Executive Director of the Greenville YMCA. "A lot of our Mighty Mites have never played before. But they went out there and did just like they had been coached to.
The Termites picked up a 24-14 win, but the Pee Wee team couldn't record the sweep, falling 26-0.
The Termites did a great job too, as a matter of fact it was one of the termites that after he made a touchdown ran up and down the sidelines like the professional guys did raising his hands and looking into the crowd," Phillips said. "Pee-Wee's did a good job too. They didn't come away with a win but they went away with a better understanding of what didn't work. They plan to take it out on some Ft Deposit Red Devils Saturday night."
This weekend, they will be in action at Fort Deposit.
"This weekend depending on what Hurricane Ivan does of course," Phillips said. "We are scheduled to travel to ft deposit and play at Calhoun field with the first game set to start at 5pm and we would like everyone to come out and support the young Greenville Tigers."
Admission to all games is $ 3 for adults and $ 1 for students thru high school. All football field facilities are smoke/alcohol free. There will be no tolerance of profanity or unsportsmanlike behavior.
No coolers are allowed into games except for football and cheerleader coaches.
