The Bender Family reunion will be held Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Flatwood Music Park. Attendees are asked to bring any pictures or family memorabilia. A covered dish lunch will be served. Lawn chairs are needed.

The fourth annual Gospel Bluegrass Festival will be held Sept. 18 beginning at 4 p.m. the the Crystal Springs Park in Red Level. Featured artists will be Crosscut Bluegrass, Jimmy Williams and the Gospel Grass, the Wilkersons Family, Martin Hicks and the Bluegrass Boys, the Turman family and the Smith's. Bring lawn chairs.

The Pettus Street 500 lawn mower race will be held at 4 p.m. on Pettus Street, Georgiana with proceeds going to the First Baptist Church of Georgiana building fund.

Sept. 25

The University of West Alabama and Greenville High School will host a softball clinic on Sept. 25, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The cost is $40 per camper.

Ages 8-18 are encouraged to attend.

Oct. 2

Garden Baptist Church will hold a benefit for Mrs. Hamrac, wife of the late minister, Harley Hamrac, Oct. 2, at 4 p.m. in McKenzie School.

"Save A Life Give a Phone" collects used cell phones and refurbishes them in order to provide emergency 911 access for elderly and disable persons, the YMCA domestic violence shelters and domestic violence victims nationwide. The organization asks everyone in the community to participate in this drive. The local drop off point in Greenville is at Walker Business Machines on E. Commerce Street.
