Last week, Butler County School’s top boss was mentioned as a finalist for the Cullman City Schools top position, a few days later, his name was mentioned again as a candidate for the top educational position with Hartselle City Schools.

Messages left at Reed’s office on Friday went unanswered.

Last week, Reed said no one from Cullman had contacted about the job.

A spokeswoman in Cullman said a list had of potential candidates had been created and that Reed was on the list.

After the board conducts their own background checks and such, invitations to apply would be sent out.

As for Hartselle, it is likely the finalists from that position will come from north Alabama.

The Advocate learned of Reed’s name in association with the Hartselle job through its sister paper, The Hartselle Enquirer.

The list of potential candidates was supplied to the Hartselle board by a firm that seeks candidates for openings in various school systems.

This is the fourth time in a year that Reed’s name has come up for possible positions elsewhere.

Late last year, he was a finalist for the Phenix City City Schools top position, but pulled his name out of the running.

This was followed by an interview for the same post with the Sylacauga City School System.

Reed is in his sixth year with the local school system and is paid $97,000 base salary.

If he does become a finalist for the Cullman job, his interview will be open to the public.
