It#039;s beginning to look at lot like Christmas in Brantley

Ah, the joy of Christmas.
Main Street in Brantley is gearing up for Santa’s arrival. Some folks have lights even on the roof. Maybe it’s so Santa will be sure to see where to land. People come from afar just to see how beautiful Main Street is during this time of the year.
Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone could decorate like this all year round?

This Saturday will get the holidays rolling with Breakfast with Santa.
Santa and his helpers will be at the Brantley Cafe from 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 am. Breakfast will be served for $3 a plate. Pictures can also be taken with Santa for $3 for a single picture or $12 for a package.
At 1 p.m. the Municipal Park will open and the children's events will begin. There will be small and large moonwalks, hayrides and cotton candy. At 2:30 p.m. the entertainment begins featuring Brantley High School's Emerald Wave marching band, church groups and various other groups will perform. At 3 p.m. is the Parade
The Parade of Heroes will begin at 3 p.m. and will feature local heroes and the Brantley High School football team. At 4:30 p.m. the Christmas tree lighting ceremony followed by the "South Alabama's largest Christmas firework display at 5 p.m.

The Brantley Garden Club will host its annual Christmas Tea on Dec. 14. The "Christmas Lighting Contest" judging will start at 5:30 p.m.
Those who are participating are asked to have their Christmas lights on for three consecutive nights starting Saturday, Dec. 11 through Tuesday, Dec.14. An overall winner will be chosen along with first place in the following categories: contemporary, traditional, religious, Santa, originality, lighting, variety, best door and best tree display. Ten additional awards will be presented to homes, churches or businesses as "Top 10 Outstanding Decorations."
Certificates will be awarded to all winners. Signs will be placed in the winners' yards and will stay until Friday Dec. 31. Garden Club members will then collect signs for the next year's event.
Homes that are judged must be confined within the boundaries of Hwy. 331 north at Brunson Chapel Rd. to Hwy. 331 south at Hwy. 189. Also Hwy. 29 west at Brantley Garden Sign to County Road 57, Glenwood Rd. at Nelvin Wallace Road.

Brantley First Baptist Church will perform its Christmas Cantata at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Mt Zion Baptist Church will host its Cantata at 5 p.m. on Dec. 19
The Word of Faith church will host a children program the evening of Dec. 19.

Luverne First Assembly of God will show the movie, The Passion of the Christ and play dirty Santa beginning at 6 p.m. on Dec. 19.
Friendship Baptist Church will present the Shepherd’s Story at 5 p.m. on Dec. 19.
Refreshments will be served afterwards.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
Members of Friendship Baptist church went caroling on Dec. 4 and gave out fruit baskets.
