After suffering their worst defeat of the season a week ago in the consolation final game of the Red Level Tournament against Paxton High out of Florida, the McKenzie Lady Tigers took to the court Tuesday night looking for their fourth win of the season.

They found it against Brantley.

Tuesday's game marked the third time that these two teams have squared off against one another with the record being split. Each team holds a win over the other.

McKenzie posted a 29-11 victory in Brantley Tuesday night to move them to 2-1 in the season and provide them with their fourth victory overall.

The Lady Tigers jumped out to an early lead, with a 10-2 mark at the end of the first period.

The second quarter is usually unkind to the Lady Tigers.

In the Red Level Tourney they were held to a lone point in the second quarter of the semi-final game against New Brocton.

History, however did not repeat itself against Brantley and the Lady Tigers outscored the Lady Bulldogs 11-0 in the second quarter and put them that much closer to a victory.

At the half, the Lady Tigers were cruising, 21-2.

Their momentum continued throughout the second half when the Lady Tigers recorded a 27-7 lead and then finally posted a 29-11 victory.

McKenzie was led by junior LaSha Pitts's nine points.

Akeia Owens, a junior also contributed four points in the winning effort.

The freshman on the Lady Tigers squad also made their presence known, Tia Bush scored six points and then Laronica Peterson posted four points.

Tonight, the Lady Tigers have the opportunity to turn their lone reversal of fortune into a winning streak when they travel to Kinston for their second area game of the season.

After Kinston, the Lady Tigers will travel to Pleasant Home for another area game.

According to AHSAA rules, the Area Tournament's location is determined by who wins the area.
