Pearcey tapped as Journal

Kevin Pearcey, 32, has been named Managing Editor of the Luverne Journal. Pearcey, a native of Greenville and graduate of Greenville High School, graduated from Troy University in 2001 with a BA in English and a minor in journalism.

He is the former sports editor of the Troy Messenger and has spent the last two years working for a non-profit agency as well as producing Trojan News the Magazine, a publication focused on Troy University sports.

"As a native of Greenville, Luverne and Crenshaw County have always been places that are close and familiar to me," Pearcey said. "Now I have the honor of becoming a part of this well-loved and respected community."

Pearcey also served for four years in the U.S. Navy stationed on the U.S.S. George Washington in Norfolk, Va.

"I'm proud to have Kevin covering Crenshaw County for the Luverne Journal," said Journal publisher Dennis Palmer. "He's an excellent writer and will serve the readers of Crenshaw County well through the pages of their newspaper."

Pearcey is excited about the opportunity to live and work in Luverne.

"I look forward to serving the citizens of Crenshaw County as Managing Editor of the Luverne Journal," he said.

"I appreciate the confidence Dennis and Greenville Newspapers have placed in me and I will do everything in my power to live up to that trust. This truly is a great opportunity."
