The old adage is that teams control their own destiny. Well, no truer statement has ever been spoken. Tonight the Greenville High School Tigers have a chance to determine their postseason. On Friday night, the Tigers took the road trip to Carroll of Ozark and tonight they travel to Eufaula.

If they can secure a victory in both of those places, then they will clinch the area championship and will play host to the area tournament held in February.

If trends play out like they have all season, then the reality of Greenville winning tonight is a pretty good one.

The Tigers defeated Eufaula the first time they came to Greenville and have also knocked off Carroll.

Right now their only regional loss has come at the hands of Charles Henderson High School.

If the Tigers lose to Eufaula then that will create a three-way tie in for first with Carroll uncontested in the No. 4 spot. Tonight's game against Eufaula marks the end of area competition as the regular seaon itself is now down to six games.

Greenville High School will find themselves on the road Tuesday night against the Indians of Wetumpka High School. From there, they will return to Greenville to play host to Jefferson Davis and T.R. Miller.

Greenville has seen all three of these squads earlier in the season. The Tigers knocked off Wetumpka and then fell to Jefferson Davis before the Christmas Break.

During the Christmas break, the Tigers made the trip down I-65to compete in the T.R. Miller Tournament where they recorded a third place finish.

Right now, the area tournaments are slated to begin on February 11 and run through the 14th.

The top two teams from the area will compete in the sub-regionals with the winner of the area staying at home and the runner-up traveling. The regional basketball tournament begins February 22 and conludes on the 26. Greenville will compete in the Troy region.
