FIW Volunteer Fire Department will be selling camp stew at the firehouse on Hwy. 106 East on Saturday, Jan. 22 at noon. The price is $6 a quart. Proceeds will be used for the departmental upkeep.

Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ in Georgiana will have a singing on Jan 22 at noon featuring the Jordan Rivers, Singing Fairchilds, Evangelist David Kicker, Charles Pier and New Gospel Travelers and The Weaver Family, On Jan 23 at 9:30 a.m. there will be a special singing and preaching. Awin Baptist Church will have a Brunsrick Stew Sale, January 22, from 11 a.m. until all is sold. The cost is $7 per quart. Awin is on Hwy. 10 west of Greenville in Awin.

Also, Awin Baptist Church will have their 5th Sunday Singing January 30 starting at 10 a.m. with lunch served at noon and singing resuming after lunch.

A three-point shootout will be held at Georgiana High School on Saturday, Jan. 22, at 7 p.m. For more information call 376-2026.

Jan. 30

The Butler County Historical & Genealogical Society will meet Jan. 30 at Greenville City Hall at 2 p.m. The program will be presented by Bob Glasscock of Butler Services. Hispresentation will be on photo restoration and conventional versus digital things you can do at home. Bring you old pictures. Everyone is invited.

Feb. 1

The Butler County Retired Educators Association will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m. at Beeland Park. Everyone is asked to bring a box of valentines (the kind students exchange). Please continue to bring school supplies, children's underwear and socks.

Feb. 4

The Georgiana Garden Club is sponsoring a Brunswick Stew Sale on Friday, February 4, 2005 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Georgiana Garden Club Log

Cabin located next to First Methodist Church. Prices are $3 a pint, $6 a quart and $24 a gallon. Plates, including stew, crackers, cake and tea, are $5 each. Serving time starts at 11 a.m. Take-out plates available, order now. Call Syble Parker at 376-9695 or Suzy Shepherd at 376-2326.

Feb. 13

Come be a part of a fresh start and a new beginning at Bible Baptist Church. Sunday school will begin at 9 a.m. Feb. 13 and worship services will begin at 10 a.m. at Union Hall in Chapman with Brother R.J. Williams, pastore.

Feb. 22

W.O. Parmer will hold kindergarten registration on Feb. 22 and 23 from 8 a.m. until noon. Those with last names A through M should register Feb. 22. Names N through Z should register Feb. 23. To register, parents need to bring a certified birth certificate (not a hospital issued one), a blue immunization record, the child's Social Security card, and two proofs of residence. The child must be present to enroll at pre-registration.

The Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church will hold an Advanced Bible Study Institute every Wednesday night from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Lee Albert Moorer Jr. will be the instructor.

The First Baptist Church of Georgiana is now taking names and contact numbers for those wishing to order additional copies of their new "Country Cookin'" cookbook, which is now on re-order. Ian Blake Oswald, 19 months, will soon visit Arizona for a special MRI to determine if surgery can be performed to remove two tumors from his hypothalamus in the brain. He currently has about 100 seizures per day.
