With basketball season winding down, and the prospects of spring football not kicking off until the end of April, that must mean it's time to hit the diamond.

This year, the McKenzie Tigers boast what appears to be a tough schedule for the 1A school.

In baseball, the Tigers will open up against another group of Tigers. On Feb. 24, the Tigers will play host to the Greenville Tigers beginning at 3:30, and then four days later will get their first taste of that team up the road, Georgiana beginning at 1:30.

From there, the Tigers will travel to Florala on March 1 and then to Greenville on March 3. Hillcrest-Evergreen comes to town to face the Tigers on March 8, three days later the Tigers are back on the road to J.F.Shields.

McKenzie has a 10-day break before facing Paxton, Fla., in McKenzie and then the Tigers will return the favor and travel to Evergreen and face Hillcrest-Evergreen. From there, it's area competition.

The Tigers are in an area with Shields, Pleasant Home, Florala and Kinston. They will play those teams twice.

Beginning on March 28, the Tigers will host Florala, Shields on March 28 and then Pleasant Home on April 1. They will go on the road to Kinston April 8, then Kinston will come to McKenzie on April 8. McKenzie has back-to-back road days as the schedule draws to a close. The Tigers will travel to Pleasant Home on April 12 and then to Georgiana on April 15. They will face Hillcrest for a third time on April 18 and then finally will end their season by playing host to the squad from Paxton, Fla., for a second time.
